PMP Exam Fee in India 2026 Guide

PMP Exam Fee in India 2026 Guide

Total Views: 5

The PMP exam fee question gets confusing fast for candidates in India. PMI publishes its fees in USD. Your bank charges you in INR. GST applies on top. And the member versus non-member pricing difference is large enough that getting this decision wrong costs you over Rs. 22,000 before you even walk into the exam room.

This guide gives you the exact fees, in INR, with GST included, and covers the payment process from an Indian bank account so there are no surprises at checkout.

URGENT: PMP Exam Fee Hike on August 6, 2026

PMI is officially raising PMP exam fees globally on August 6, 2026. Here is what changes:

Candidate type Current fee (USD) New fee from Aug 6 (USD) Increase
PMI Member $405 $445 +$40
Non-Member $555 $675 +$120

The exact new INR amounts PMI will lock in for India are not yet published, but a $120 jump for non-members is significant. Candidates who complete their 35 contact hours, submit their PMI application, and pay their exam fee before August 6, 2026 will lock in the current Rs. 24,708 member rate. If you are close to being ready, this is the deadline that matters.

PMP exam fee in India: the quick answer

If you want just the numbers before the explanation:

Fee component PMI Member (INR)
Non-Member (INR)
PMI Membership (with GST) Rs. 12,320 Not applicable
PMP Exam Fee (with GST) Rs. 24,708 Rs. 59,030
Total PMI cost Rs. 37,028 Rs. 59,030
Savings by joining PMI Rs. 22,002
Training (live online) Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 35,000
Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 35,000
Total estimated investment Rs. 52,000 to Rs. 72,000

The membership saves you more than it costs. That calculation stays true regardless of which exam attempt you are on.

PMP exam costs for PMI members versus non-members in India

Why the fee looks different from the USD price

PMI sets its exam fees in USD: currently $405 for members and $555 for non-members until August 5, 2026, rising to $445 and $675 respectively from August 6. When you pay from India, GST is added on top, and PMI displays the final INR amount directly at checkout.

GST applies. India’s 18% Goods and Services Tax is added at checkout on PMI’s website. This is not hidden. It shows up before you confirm payment, but many candidates are caught off guard when the number is higher than the USD equivalent they calculated themselves.

PMI uses localized INR pricing for India. PMI’s website detects your Indian billing address and displays all fees in INR directly at checkout. The member exam fee shows as Rs. 24,708. The non-member fee shows as Rs. 50,025 before GST, which becomes approximately Rs. 59,030 after the 18% is added. Because PMI locks these amounts in INR rather than converting from USD in real time, the daily exchange rate does not affect what you pay.

PMI membership

The math is simple. Membership costs around Rs. 12,320 all-in. It drops your exam fee from Rs. 59,030 to Rs. 24,708. That is a saving of Rs. 22,002 on the exam fee alone, which more than covers the membership cost.

Beyond the exam fee discount, membership includes:

  • Free digital download of the PMBOK Guide (currently retailing at Rs. 3,500 to Rs. 5,000 on Amazon India)
  • Access to PMI’s online content library including practice standards and frameworks
  • Discounted renewal fee: Rs. 3,475 as a member versus Rs. 11,585 as a non-member every three years
  • Access to your local PMI chapter in India (Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, and others)

Join PMI before paying your exam fee. There is genuinely no scenario where skipping membership and paying the non-member exam fee makes financial sense.

PMI membership fee

PMI uses localized flat-rate pricing for India, so the membership fee is not affected by daily USD to INR exchange rate movements.

  • Base localized fee: Rs. 10,440
  • 18% GST: Rs. 1,879
  • What you pay: Rs. 12,319

Membership is valid for one year and auto-renews at the same rate. If you plan to complete your certification within 12 months, one membership cycle covers your application, exam registration, and any early PDU earning for renewal.

PMP exam fee

  • PMI Member: Rs. 24,708 (GST included as displayed at PMI.org checkout for India)
  • PMI Non-Member: Rs. 50,025 plus 18% GST, totaling approximately Rs. 59,030

This fee covers one exam attempt. You have up to one year from your application approval date to schedule and sit the exam.

PMP training cost (35 contact hours)

This is the mandatory prerequisite before you can even apply. The cost varies by provider and format:

Format
Typical cost in India
Self-paced online course
Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 15,000
Live online weekend training
Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 35,000
Classroom training (metro cities)
Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 50,000

ShriLearning’s live PMP Online Training is Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 25,000 depending on the batch, includes the 35 Contact Hours Certificate (Provider ID 5346), and comes with mock practice, application support, and weekly doubt-clearing. View current batch pricing.

Re-examination fee (if needed)

If you do not pass on the first attempt, you have two more chances within your one-year eligibility period. The retake fees are:

  • PMI Member: approximately Rs. 15,929 (plus GST)
  • PMI Non-Member: approximately Rs. 28,961 (plus GST)

This is a significant additional cost, which is one of the reasons a 98.5% first-attempt pass rate from your training provider matters in real financial terms, not just as a marketing number.

Renewal fee (every 3 years)

Once you pass, your PMP certification is valid for 3 years. Renewal requires 60 PDUs and a fee:

  • PMI Member: approximately Rs. 3,475
  • PMI Non-Member: approximately Rs. 11,585

ShriLearning offers lifetime PDU support to all enrolled students at no additional charge, covering your first renewal cycle and beyond.

How to actually pay PMI from India

This is the practical section most India-specific guides skip over. Here is exactly what works.

International credit or debit card. Any Visa, Mastercard, or Amex card with international transaction capability works on PMI.org. Most Indian banks enable this by default, but some require you to activate it via netbanking or a call to your bank. Check before you sit down to pay.

Forex prepaid cards. Cards like Niyo Global, HDFC Forex, or Axis Bank Forex loaded with USD or kept as a multicurrency card work smoothly on PMI.org and often give better exchange rates than standard bank cards. A good option if your primary debit card does not have international transaction approval.

UPI and net banking do not work. PMI.org does not support domestic Indian payment methods. You need a card with international capability or an equivalent.

GST invoice for your employer. If your company is reimbursing the cost, you can request a GST-compliant invoice from PMI. This allows your employer to claim the GST input credit. Ask your finance team before paying personally if reimbursement is on the table.

Currency note. PMI charges in USD but displays the INR equivalent at checkout. The INR amount shown is what will be debited from your account. There are no additional hidden conversion fees from PMI’s side, though your bank may charge a foreign transaction fee of 1 to 3.5% on top. Check your bank’s rate before paying.

Pearson VUE test centers in India vs online proctoring

You have two options for how you sit the exam.

PMP exam formats - Shrilearning

Pearson VUE test centers in India. Physical exam centers are available in most major cities including Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur. You sit the exam on-site with invigilators present. No special technical setup required on your end.

Online proctored exam from home. You can take the PMP exam remotely through Pearson VUE’s OnVUE platform. Requirements include a stable internet connection, a working webcam and microphone, a quiet private room, and a system check run before your exam date. The exam fee is the same for both formats. Many Indian candidates prefer the test center to avoid the risk of a technical disruption during the exam, though online proctoring is reliable if your setup is solid.

Both options are available when you schedule through Pearson VUE after your PMI application is approved. Scheduling is done on the Pearson VUE website, not on PMI.org.

Is the PMP exam fee worth it in India?

The total investment ranges from Rs. 52,000 to Rs. 72,000 via the member route with a quality training provider. That number is only useful next to what it returns.

Is the PMP exam fee worth it in India

PMP-certified project managers in India earn 33 to 35% more than their non-certified peers, which is above the global average premium of 17%. At a salary of Rs. 12 LPA before certification, that premium represents approximately Rs. 4 to Rs. 4.2 LPA in additional annual income. The total certification investment of Rs. 65,000 pays back in under four months of the salary difference.

For candidates currently earning between Rs. 8 and Rs. 15 LPA in project management roles, this is one of the highest-ROI credential investments available in the Indian job market.

The longer-term picture is stronger still. The PMP opens doors to senior project manager, programme manager, and delivery director roles that typically require the certification as a baseline. In IT, banking, infrastructure, and consulting, those roles routinely pay Rs. 20 to Rs. 40 LPA.
