About this course

PMP Classroom Training: if you are taking this course, you probably have some professional exposure to the duties of a project manager, or you may be considering embarking on a career in professional project management. Your ability as a project manager to demonstrate best practices in project management-both on the job and through professional certification is becoming the standard to compete in today’s fast-paced and highly technical workplace. In this course, you will apply the generally recognized practices of project management acknowledged by the Project Management Institute (PMI) to successfully manage projects.

The Project Management Role Delineation states that candidates for the PMP certification:

  • Perform their duties under general supervision and are responsible for all aspects of the project for the life of the project
  • Lead and direct cross-functional teams to deliver projects within the constraints of schedule, budget, and scope
  • Demonstrate sufficient knowledge and experience to appropriately apply a methodology to projects that have reasonably well-defined requirements and deliverables

During Lesson 1 we look at how to work with and engage others in a project environment by building a fantastic team to deliver the work.

Lesson 3: Doing the Work
In Lesson 3 we move into talking about how to get the work done efficiently, effectively and with input from all relevant stakeholders.

  • How to focus on delivering business value
  • Managing communications
  • Working with stakeholders
  • Creating project artifacts
  • How to manage project changes
  • How to manage projects issues
  • How to ensure knowledge transfer for project continuity

Lesson 4: Keeping the Team on Track
The work has started and the team is busy. But are they working on the right things? In Lesson 4 you’ll learn how to keep the team focused and on track. This is a really important topic for project managers.

Themes covered in this lesson are:

  • Leading a team
  • Supporting team performance
  • Addressing and removing impediments, obstacles and blockers
  • Managing conflict
  • Collaborating with stakeholders
  • Mentoring stakeholders
  • Using emotional intelligence to promote team performance

Lesson 5: Keeping the Business in Mind
Projects are initiated to deliver something useful to the business, so it’s important that you stay aware of the business context for the project. That context frames your project decisions every day.

During this lesson you’ll cover these topics:

  • Managing compliance requirements
  • Evaluating and delivering project benefits and value
  • Evaluating and addressing internal and external business environment changes
  • Supporting organizational change
  • Employing continuous process improvement

Training Prerequisite

Bachelor’s degree or global equivalent

  • Minimum three years/36 months unique non-overlapping professional project management experience
  • 4,500 hours spent leading and directing projects
  • 35 contact hours of formal project management education (satisfied by 5-Day PMP certification training course)


High school diploma, associate’s degree or global equivalent

  • Minimum five years/60 months unique non-overlapping professional project management experience
  • 7,500 hours spent leading and directing projects
  • 35 contact hours of formal project management education (satisfied by 5-Day PMP certification training course)
